SFO > ATL > ATH

So begins my month in Greece.

I’m currently en route to Atlanta for a connecting flight to Athens, at which point I’ll have one night in the shadow of the Acropolis before starting out for Naxos to meet a sailboat. I’ll be at sea for 22 days, cruising the Cyclades on a 50’ Beneteau Oceanis followed by 6 idle days in the small town of Kastro (pop. 100) on the island of Sifnos.

Things I intend to do while there:
Learn to hunt octopus
Buy a pair of handmade sandals
Improve my navigation skills
Celebrate Ciaran’s birthday
Engage in some broader thinking about my purpose
Eat pastitsada
Try kitron on Naxos
Visit Poseidon’s temple at Sounion
Swim alone at sunset

One of many treats Ciaran received for Valentine’s Day 2008 was a hand-sprayed message on the dividing wall in Ramallah, Palestine. The message was love, not politics — but the money spent on its creation will make up for that.

That One Time, When We Were In Eden

Ezekiel 28:13

You were in Eden,
the garden of God;
every precious stone adorned you:
ruby, topaz and emerald,
chrysolite, onyx and jasper,
sapphire, turquoise and beryl.
Your settings and mountings were made of gold;
on the day you were created they were prepared.
